The tomatoes have already grown enough, and it’s time to tie them up. This procedure is essential because without it, it will be difficult for the bushes to hold the formed fruits, and the branches may break. Without proper support, you may lose your harvest or its quality will suffer. If the tomatoes lie on the ground, there will be an increased risk of disease and pests.

Methods to Tie Tomatoes

1. With the Help of a Peg

Take stakes that are 25 centimeters higher than the plant and twine. Dig a stake next to the bush and tie the branches with twine to the stake for support.

2. With the Help of a Frame

You can either buy or make a structure in the form of a prism. Drive the metal structure into the ground and tie the bushes to it. This method can be very cost-effective, as you will need only a few such frames.

3. With Wallpaper or Horizontal Trellis

Tie the tomatoes to a horizontal trellis. As the bushes grow, you can change the position and continue tying the branches. Spears should be dug into the ground, and twine should be stretched between them. Tomatoes must be passed between the twine so that they lie on it. A horizontal trellis is better because the fruits will lie more evenly on it. However, they will still need to be tied to prevent them from touching the ground.

4. Using a Grid

Stretch a 2-meter-high net between the rows of tomatoes. Using twine, tie the tomato branches to the net. You can tie several bushes to one net for support.

We wish you a good harvest!
