Proper care is essential for the health of your houseplants. To promote lush flowering and healthy growth, regular feeding is necessary. One highly effective method of plant nutrition is sweet feeding, using either sugar or glucose. This method helps to normalize photosynthesis processes in the plants, encouraging better growth and a more vibrant bloom.
When Should You Use Sweet Nutrition?
You should consider using sweet feeding when you notice any of the following signs:
- Flowering has stopped.
- Leaves turned yellow.
- Stems became thin and elongated.
- The flower began to wither.
- Growth has stopped.
- Leaves started falling.
If your plant is showing these symptoms, you can revive it with three irrigations using sweet water. This solution can also be used for seedlings that lack sufficient light.
How to Prepare and Apply the Sugar Solution:
- Prepare the Solution.
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of sugar or 8 ml of 5% glucose in summer water (room temperature). Be sure to follow the correct proportions for effective results. - Water the Plant.
Use this solution to water your plants, ensuring the soil is thoroughly moistened.
Strengthen Your Plants with Yeast
For even better results, you can add yeast to the sugar solution. Yeast helps to quickly process organic substances and release essential nutrients, which in turn strengthens the root system of the plant.
Here’s how to make the yeast-enhanced solution:
- Prepare the Yeast Solution.
Mix 1 teaspoon of yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar in 1000 ml of water. Leave the solution in a warm place for 30 minutes to activate the yeast. - Apply the Fertilizer.
For every 1 kg of soil, use 70 ml of the yeast fertilizer. Be sure to moisten the soil before applying it.
Important Note: If the roots of the plant are damaged, the fertilizer will not be able to fully restore the plant’s health.
Using sweet feeding and yeast solutions can help your houseplants thrive, promoting strong growth and beautiful blooms.
