At the beginning of spring, it’s essential to nourish raspberry bushes to ensure large and delicious berries later in the season.
Timing and Organic Fertilizers
Once the snow melts and the soil warms up to 5 degrees Celsius, it’s time to apply organic fertilizers.
- For each raspberry bush, allocate 1 bucket of humus or compost. Before feeding, make sure to water and loosen the soil.
Fertilizer Solutions
- Mullein: Dissolve mullein in water at a ratio of 1 to 10, and apply 1000 ml of this solution under each bush.
- Chicken Droppings: Mix chicken droppings with water at a ratio of 1 to 20 and apply 1000 ml under one raspberry bush.
- Goat Droppings: Similarly, you can dissolve goat droppings in water at a ratio of 1 to 10 to feed your raspberries.
- Wood Ash: Dissolve 600 grams of ash in a bucket of water. After 24 hours, apply 2000 ml under each bush.
Application Tips
It’s important to apply all fertilizers separately; mixing them is not advisable. Start with mullein, then after 14 days, follow with ash.
Long-term Feeding Method
You can also create holes about 20 cm deep around the bushes and fill them with fallen apples, ashes, water, and soil. This method provides a constant supply of nutrients to the raspberry bushes.
By following these guidelines, you can set the stage for a fruitful harvest of tasty raspberries!
