As spring arrives, it’s time to plan your flower bed and choose blooms that will bring color and joy until late autumn. Here are some beautiful flowers to sow in March:
1. Lavender
Sow lavender seeds in early March. They will sprout within a couple of weeks, and once the frost has passed, transplant them into open ground. Lavender not only delights with its blooms until October but also repels pests like moths, flies, and mosquitoes with its lovely aroma.
2. Petunia
For petunias, sow seeds on the surface in March. After a couple of weeks, you’ll have seedlings ready to plant outside after the frost. Be sure to space them 35 cm apart. These flowers will provide lush blooms until late autumn.
3. Cleome
Sow cleome seeds in March, and plan to transplant them into open ground by mid-May. Ensure to space the plants half a meter apart for optimal growth.
4. Lion’s Throat
In March, plant Lion’s Throat seeds mixed with sand. Seedlings will appear in about 10 days. After a couple of months, transplant them outdoors, where they will bloom from June to November.
5. Alyssum
Sow Alyssum seeds in mid-March or early April. Expect seedlings in about 10 days, and then transplant them into the open ground by the end of May.
6. Annual Phlox
Sow phlox seeds in March and cultivate seedlings in a sunny location. They will sprout in about a week. Transplant them into warm soil in April or May, and enjoy their vibrant blooms from June until the first frost.
7. Verbena
Sow verbena seeds in March, and you’ll have seedlings in about 15 days. Transplant them into the open ground in May, spacing them 30 cm apart for best results.
By planting these flowers in March, you can create a beautiful garden that flourishes with color until late autumn!
