If you need to get rid of an unwanted stump in your yard, you can use this simple and economical method that doesn’t require digging, burning, or special equipment. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Drill Holes in the Stump

Using a drill or an axe, create several deep holes in the stump, spaced about 10-15 cm apart. The holes should be angled inward toward the center of the stump, forming a cone shape.

Step 2: Add Salt

Pour about a tablespoon of salt (preferably sea salt) into each hole. Salt will draw moisture out of the wood, making it drier and more brittle over time.

Step 3: Add Water

Pour about half a cup of water into each hole to dissolve the salt and help it penetrate deeper into the wood.

Step 4: Repeat the Process

Every two weeks, repeat the process of adding salt and water until the stump becomes soft enough to break down easily.

Step 5: Remove or Leave the Stump

Once the stump has softened and weakened, it can be easily removed with a shovel or axe. Alternatively, you can leave it in place as it will naturally decompose over time.

This method is environmentally safe, cost-effective, and doesn’t require the use of harmful chemicals. The key is patience and following the steps carefully.
