One of the biggest threats to carrots is the carrot fly. To protect your harvest, it’s crucial to implement special treatments.
Pest Prevention with Pepper Solution
Dissolve 1 tablespoon of red or black pepper in 10 liters of water. This solution is sufficient for 10 m² of carrot beds.
When you perform the first thinning, water the beds with the pepper solution. For the second thinning, mix 3 grams of manganese and 3 grams of boric acid in 10 liters of water. This batch will cover 3 m². After 14 days, reapply this solution, but first, water the carrots with plain water.
Ensuring Proper Growth
To prevent cracking, ensure that the carrots are spaced 5 cm apart as they grow.
By following these tips, you can safeguard your carrots from pests and promote a healthy, productive harvest!
