Moles can cause significant damage to your garden with their underground tunnels, which disrupt soil structure and harm plants. Fortunately, there’s a simple and effective method to get rid of them without using chemicals or harmful substances.
You Will Need:
- Plastic bowls with cracks (e.g., old water or juice bottles)
- Knife or scissors to cut the bowls
- A rod or stick to secure the bowls in place
Instructions:
- Locate Mole Tunnels: Identify the areas where moles have created underground tunnels or small mounds in your garden.
- Prepare the Bowls: Use the knife or scissors to make diagonal cuts about 5 cm deep on the bowls, creating openings.
- Fill the Bowls: Place the bowls on the ground and fill them with twists of cloth or other materials to increase noise production when disturbed.
- Place the Bowls in Mole Tunnels: Bury the bowls upright in the mole tunnels. Secure them by pressing a rod or stick 20 cm into the ground next to the bowl, ensuring the bowl sits properly over the tunnel.
- Repeat for All Active Tunnels: Continue this process for all known mole tunnels in your garden.
How It Works:
This method relies on the mole’s sensitivity to sound and vibrations. When the wind blows, the bowls create noise as they move, which is transmitted through the underground passages. The sound and vibrations disrupt the moles, making them uncomfortable and encouraging them to leave your garden.
This simple approach effectively drives away moles without harming the environment or using harmful chemicals.
