Carrots will thrive when watered with the right fertilizer. Here’s how to go from sowing to harvesting successfully:

Sowing Carrots: The ideal time for sowing carrots is at the end of March or the beginning of April. However, you can also sow early or hybrid varieties in the summer, starting no earlier than July 20.

To keep plants healthy, ensure regular watering, mulching between rows, removing weeds, and protecting against pests.

Watering Techniques: Water the carrots often, but in small portions to maintain soil moisture. Gradually increase the frequency of watering as the plants grow.

Protection from Pests: Common carrot pests include the carrot fly, moth, wireworm, and aphid. To combat these pests, consider using insecticides such as Borey, ZhukOFF, Presto, or Anshlag.

Effective Feeding Methods: Feed carrots for the first time one month after seedlings emerge, and again after two months.

One effective fertilizer option is to mix:

  • 2 cups of wood ash
  • 1 tablespoon of nitrophoska
  • 20 grams of potassium nitrate
  • 15 grams of superphosphate
  • 15 grams of urea

Dissolve this in a bucket of water and apply it after watering the carrots.

Alternatively, you can use a yeast solution: dissolve 100 grams of yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bucket of warm water. Let it steep for two hours and mix well before watering.

Nettle Infusion is another excellent option. Prepare the nettle solution, dilute it with water, and use it for watering.

Carrots also respond well to potassium sulfate infusion. Dissolve 6-7 grams of potassium sulfate in a bucket of water per square meter of garden and water the carrots with this solution.

With these tips, you can achieve a bountiful harvest of delicious and healthy carrots without spending a lot on expensive fertilizers and irrigation systems!
