In winter, many flowers require special attention, including the orchid. During this season, it’s crucial to water the orchid properly, as the heating is turned on and the soil dries out more quickly. You’ll know it’s time to water when the aerial roots appear wrinkled and pale.

To water the orchid effectively, immerse the pot in a larger container filled with water for fifteen minutes. After soaking, remove the pot and let any excess moisture drain away. To encourage the orchid to bloom, apply fertilizers during watering. However, once the orchid starts to bloom, reduce the amount of fertilizer by half.

When ventilating the room, make sure to remove the orchid from the windowsill, as it does not tolerate drafts well. Ensure that the flower is placed in a well-lit area, and plan for this in advance to promote healthy growth.
