Every family occasionally has old bread that becomes stale or even moldy. However, this bread can be quite useful for growing various plants!
Fertilizer from Old Bread
Experienced gardeners often use stale bread as a fertilizer. Transforming it into a beneficial supplement requires less effort than you might think. Here’s how to do it:
- Break the stale bread into small pieces.
- Place the pieces in a jar or bucket and fill it with boiling water.
- Cover the container with cheesecloth and leave it in a warm place to allow the mixture to ferment.
After a few days, your top dressing will be ready. Strain it through a colander to remove bits of bread and sediment.
Application
Dilute the resulting infusion with water in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. Use this mixture to water your plants on moist soil.
By utilizing stale bread this way, you can enhance your garden’s productivity while reducing waste!
